Klēn uses coconut oil in our balms and gloss. Coconut oil is so beneficial for your lips and skin. Are you starting to see a trend? Healthy, Healing and Natural??!!

  1. As coconut oil has good amounts of the antioxidant vitamin E, it is a wonderful moisturizer for your dry skin.
  2. The taste of coconut oil will feel good on your lips, and can prevent cracked lips during winter. The fatty acids in coconut oil create a barrier and lock in moisture so that your lips remain free of cracks.
  3. It also works as a natural sunscreen as it has an SPF of 3. However, the oil itself will not give you full protection from the harmful rays of the sun and so you need to use a proper sunscreen lotion before going out in the sun.
  4. The fatty acids in coconut oil helps lock moisture into the skin, so it can be used in place of a moisturizer. Use it regularly as a powerful massage oil to enjoy soft and smooth skin year around.

One of the four ingredients in our balm and gloss is shea butter. Why? Here are a couple of reasons.

Sun Protection:

Shea butter acts as a natural sunscreen by providing protection against the ultraviolet radiations of sun though the level of protection offered may be variable. Shea butter is considered as the best skincare for winter and after-sun care as it provides the extra moisture, nutrients and protection needed by your skin during the cold season and summer.

Healing Agent:

Shea butter has amazing healing properties. It is often used as a base in medicinal ointments due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used since ages for the treatment of scars, eczema, blemishes, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretch marks, dark spots and in reducing the irritation caused by psoriasis. Due to its high content of vitamin A, it is effective in promoting healing and disinfection; and soothes skin allergies like poison ivy and insect bites. Vitamin F acts as a rejuvenator for soothing and healing rough and chapped skin.

Lip Care:

Shea butter is easily absorbable and provides extra moisture and nutrients that are needed during cold season and dry weather. Thus, it acts as a perfect lip balm to protect your lips from cold and dry weather and is effective for treating dry and chapped lips.

Moisturizer:

The presence of vitamins A and E makes shea butter an excellent moisturizer to moisturize your hair from roots to tips. Thus, it can be used as a natural conditioner. It is highly effective in locking in moisture without leaving the hair greasy or heavy. Shea butter has wide usage in curly hair treatments due to its emollient qualities. A number of chemical treatments like straighteners, perms, curlers etc are responsible for stripping off natural moisture from the hair. Shea butter can help restore this lost moisture.

Happy New Year!
We have spent much of 2014 working toward our goal of going big in 2015. We have spent countless hours in the kitchen to perfect our recipe, more hours on social media marketing, small vender sprees, and with a lot of sweat and LOVE, we are ready! We are headed to Atlanta in a few days to AmericasMart. AmericasMart is a giant warehouse in downtown Atlanta where tens of thousands of retailers come twice a year to decide what will be the next big in the shopping world.

Of course we are hoping that our balm and gloss is the next big thing. We have developed something that we truly love and believe in. It is healthy, healing and natural. It also has great flavors and is fun. It will keep you and your family safe from many of the chemicals and preservatives that are in many balms and glosses on the market right now.

We have so much to be thankful for and are so excited for what 2015 has in store for Klēn. We will keep you posted on Atlanta!

Klēn

After watching our toddlers smear lip gloss all over their faces and into their mouths, consuming unnecessary harmful chemicals, we knew there had to be a better solution. For years, we recognized that our chapped lips were not being healed with the expensive lip balms and medicated sticks we were using- it seemed like our lips got worse and we almost seemed addicted! After some research, we learned that the majority of these so-called healing balms contained ingredients such as alcohol that actually dried our lips out more and caused further chapping. We really were becoming addicted because we needed more and more! So, we decided to create a solution using only all-natural ingredients that are actually working to heal our lips and skin. In addition to being wonderful for our skin and lips- our ingredients are safe to ingest! No need to worry if you or your kids are slathering your lips all day long! Our clever packaging makes klēn products fun for all ages! Collect multiple flavors and feel good knowing you are keeping your family safe!
